The score is intended to be used in babies who are breathing spontaneously,

including those being treated with CPAP.

Patients on Mechanical Ventilation are considered to have Sever Respiratory Distress

Was the Symptoms Persistant since birth ?
Was the Patient Asymptomatic and Developed New Symptoms ?
Is There Apnea Requiring PPV?
Is the Baby on Invasive Mechanical Ventilation ?
Is there a sustained Increase in O2 requirement >10% above baseline for >=10 min to keep Saturation within target range
Respiratory rate
Oxygen requirement %
A baby receiving oxygen prior to the setup of an oxygen analyzer should be assigned a score of “1”.
